Guide to Kit Kats

Guide to Kit Kats

Kit Kats are a great snack. A chocolate bar with layers of wafer inside. It’s genius. But who exactly were the geniuses behind this incredible idea? The Rowntrees brothers of course!

Kit Kats were launched in 1935 as the “Chocolate Crisp”. In 1937, their name was changed from “Chocolate Crisp” to Kit Kats. But why the name Kit Kats? Well, it’s rumoured that they are named after a 17th century literary club known as the Kit Kat club but there is no evidence to say so for sure.

Kit Kats are synonymous with their iconic red and white wrapper. But did you know, it was changed to blue in 1945 due milk shortages after the second world war?

Interesting fact: Now, Japan produces the largest variety of Kit Kat flavours - over 80 to be more precise, including soy sauce, vinegar and cucumber!

Although we do not offer vinegar or cucumber Kit Kats, we still have the classic Kit Kat that never disappoints! So be sure to come to our stores in Central and Wan Chai and buy a Kit Kat while you wait for our next post. Also don’t forget to share this post with your friends and family to spread the love of candy and comment on what other sweets you want us to feature next on our blog.
