Guide to Soor Plooms (Sour plums)

Soor plooms are Scottish hard-boiled sweets. They are green and round and, as the name suggests, taste of sour plums.

Soor plooms have been around since the 17th century. They were first made at home and sold by women on the streets known as “sweetie wives”.

Not much is known about the origin or history of this classic Scottish sweet but according to legend, these sweets are meant to commemorate an incident when some English raiders were overcome while eating unripe plums.
